Human Resources brings the year to a close with a call for committee members, special award nominations, and the opportunity to show your appreciation for your colleagues.

As 2012 comes to a close, it is the University’s distinct pleasure to recognize the hard work and accomplishments of its talented staff and faculty members. The recognition season, which culminates with award ceremonies on the Westchester and New York City campuses, gives us an opportunity to formally recognize and reward our amazing team for their contributions during the year.

There are a variety of different awards that recognize both teams and individuals for everything ranging from enhancing Pace’s learning environment, furthering the University’s strategic goals, providing excellent customer service, and much more. Service Awards: Every year, we have employee recognition ceremonies honoring those of you who have completed 5–50 years of service in five-year increments.

Special Awards: In addition to recognizing employees for their length of service to the University, we will continue to provide an opportunity to nominate and award faculty and staff for outstanding contributions to the University. Please join us in nominating individuals and/or teams in the following categories:

  • President’s Extra Mile for Customer Service Award: Individual—Faculty or Staff Member
  • University’s Faculty Awards for Distinguished Service: Individual and/or Team—Faculty Member(s) Only
  • President’s Award for Staff Excellence in Leadership: Individual and/or Team—Staff Only
  • Outstanding Staff Contribution Award: Individual and/or Team—Staff Only
  • Faculty Adviser Award: Individual—Faculty or Staff Member
  • Diversity Award: Individual and/or Team—Faculty or Staff Member (s)
  • STAR Award: Individual and/or Team—Faculty or Staff Member(s)

Your involvement in the nomination process is essential in making the special award program meaningful and successful. Nominate an individual or a team by submitting an official nomination form by Friday, January 11, 2013. Want to take your engagement with employee recognition to the next step? School’s Out for Summer

HR brings us important information about Summer Fridays, vacation days, benefits, and more!

No Vacation Carryover
Don’t forget to schedule the rest of your vacation time: June 30 is the end of the vacation accrual year.  Please note that there is no vacation carryover – so if you don’t use it, you will lose it!  Take heart: July 1 begins the new vacation accrual year and Summer Flex Days!

Summer Fridays
As a small token of Pace’s appreciation, we will once again offer flexible summer hours this year. This summer each full-time staff member will have the opportunity to take every other Friday off, for three Fridays or the equivalent, between July 1 and August 12.  Each school/college or division will administer the flexible summer hours program based on the needs of the University. Reminder 2010 Compensation & Benefits Statements Available on the Portal
This statement will provide you with information concerning your total compensation from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010, including the value of the benefit contributions the University made on your behalf.

Benefits Updates, Summer Hours, and More

You may be ready for summer Fridays off, but your children are gearing up to come in to work!

Pace University’s Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is Thursday, April 28, 2011. All faculty and staff are encouraged to invite their daughters, sons, grandchildren, nieces or nephews between the ages of 8 and 15 to this event.  Planned activities have been designed to acquaint our children with Pace University and introduce them to the workplace.

Summer Flex Days are Here Again!
This summer each full-time staff member will have the opportunity to take every other Friday off, for three Fridays, or the equivalent of three days between July 1 and August 12.

Annual Benefits Open Enrollment Period

The annual benefits Open Enrollment period will take place Monday, May 9 through Wednesday, May 25, 2010. This is your opportunity to review your current benefit elections and make changes if necessary. All changes made during this open enrollment period will become effective on July 1, 2011.

Personalized Benefits Statement Available on the Pace Portal
Beginning  May 1, 2010. your personalized benefits statement, which provides information regarding total compensation from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010, including the value of the benefit contributions the University made on your behalf, is available online.

2011 Great Colleges To Work For Survey
For the third consecutive year, Pace University is participating in the 2011 Great Colleges to Work For program sponsored by The Chronicle of Higher Education.  If you are invited to complete the survey, please do so. The survey was distributed the week of March 21.  Your participation is entirely voluntary and all survey responses are completely anonymous.  The deadline for taking the survey is April 22.

The FY2011 PMDP review process is right around the corner!  Don’t let it overwhelm you.  Be prepared by taking one of Organizational Learning and Development’s training courses focused on performance management. YES! HR wants to keep you informed about important things regarding training, goal keeping, TIAA-CREFF and most importantly, celebrating each other.

  • Spread the word—“YES! Your Excellence Shows” employee recognition:  As a reminder, all full-time and part-time staff members and students are eligible to receive the YES Award, so give a shout out to someone you think is doing a good job. Nominations can be made by other staff, faculty, students, or vendors who work with the employee (or employees – you can also nominate groups of employees online now).  For more information and to recognize Pace staff members or students online visit the YES Recognition Program website.
  • Training in 2011: The spring 2011 Organizational Learning & Development training calendar is now available online. This semester choose from an array of programs ranging from conflict resolution to training in our new content management system, Drupal.  Click here to access the calendar and register for a session.
  • FYI managers: In case you didn’t realize, we are now halfway through the Performance Management and Development Process (PMDP) for FY2011. Managers may want to connect with staff in a mid-year goal review (and staff may want to remind themselves what’s on their plate for the next six months).

Time Off: The 2011 University Holiday Calendar

The 2011 Holiday Calendar has been posted.  Next year, the University is closed and will pay its full-time employees for 13 holidays in 2011 and for 2 floating holidays to be taken anytime during the 2011 calendar year. Click here to view.

Effective January 1, 2011, TIAA-CREFF will become Pace’s sole service provider of the 403(b) Retirement Plan. By choosing TIAA-CREFF as our sole provider, Pace will now be able to offer a wider range of competitively performing investment choices, self-directed brokerage, and advice that matches your retirement goals.

All eligible employees will be required to enroll in a new TIAA-CREF account between today and December 31. Reps from TIAA-CREFF will be on campus now through the mid-December if you’d like to set up a group or individual meeting session. Tuition Exchange:

Pace will continue to participate in the tuition exchange programs offered through Tuition Exchange, Inc. and the Council of Independent Colleges for the 2011-2012 academic year. To learn about the types of scholarships being offered, prerequisites, and forms for applications, visit the Human Resources website.
